Living St Louis

This video from Jim Kirchherr from the Living St Louis series is a nice introduction to some of the signs from that city and touches on a number of the key aspect of the signs, their history and preservation.

It also features a brief interview with William Stage, the athor of the most definitive book on Ghost Signs to date. As well as observing that once you start spotting them you can’t stop, Jim also points out one of the challenges facing any effort to protect signs, that protection usually exists for buildings but not what is painted on them. But then how old does something need to be before it becomes worthy of protection? e.g. Renaissance Graffito or egyptian hieroglyphs… Anyway, that aside, this is a good video, thanks Jim!
