Jericho, Oxford Update
It seems that the threat to a couple of iconic signs in Oxford has passed, for the time being (see the story in the Oxford Mail).
Following the tip off from Isisbridge late last year I talked briefly about the signs on the old blog. The lobby that galvanised around preserving the original building appears to have swayed opinion within the council and the sign are likely to be saved as a result.

There are echos of the Clapham sign that was inadvertently preserved due to a ruling against ‘development’ on its host building. I am still looking for a story where a sign has been protected for its own value rather than that of the building it happens to be painted on.
