Sign Painters & Horn Please
The Roxy Bar & Screen was turned into a mini festival of sign painting on screen in February 2014 as Sign Painters (USA) and Horn Please (India) premiered in London. The event was conceived and promoted by Ghostsigns and Better Letters, with Mike Meyer (profiled in Sign Painters) joining each of the three screenings. This included a live sign painting demonstration on the closing night. 560 passed through the doors across the three nights and Mike Meyer was routinely mobbed for autographs in the Sign Painters book and elsewhere.
The film trailers can be found below, alongside event photography and some of the reaction captured on Twitter (hashtag #IOAFS). For details of future Ghostsigns/Better Letters events, including sign painting workshops, please subscribe to the respective mailing lists (Ghostsigns | Better Letters).
Visit the Sign Painters and Horn Please websites for details of future screenings. Sign Painters is due for an online release in Spring/Summer 2014 and details will be circulated via the Better Letters mailing list. Any online or DVD releases of Horn Please will also be pushed out via this mailing list.
With thanks to everyone who helped to make the screening possible. In no particular order: Faythe and Sam, Sign Painters directors; Shantanu and Istling, Horn Please directors; Mike Meyer, Sign Painters star; Rob, Jay, Matt, Swanny, Lily and the team at Roxy Bar & Screen; AJ Levy, photographer; Nicola and Amber, book stall bosses; Ash and Sarah, cheer leaders and chief butt kickers; Jane, flyer design; Gilly, a rock of support throughout.
