Thetford Warrens
This picture was sent to me by my uncle who lives in Norwich. I saw it for myself when I visited recently. It is advertising the rabbit warrens at Thetford and is part of a series of similar signs on this building between the windows on the first floor. The sign writer has picked a colour scheme consistent with the brickwork on the building and has used quite a variety of type faces in the execution.
The rabbit colonies in Thetford survived from medieval until recent times. The ruins of a lodge to protect game keepers from poachers still survives.
Thank you to my uncle for the photo and also the research into the story behind the sign.
